Chapter 69: A Profile within the Profile Part 2

Professor Xu Nan Bai has to leave because something has come up at the school.  Therefore, this welcome meal is called off.

Noontime.  The Black Shield Team returns to the station.

Determined to give everything she has to catch the killer, Jin Xi goes to the big conference room by herself.  Just as she walks inside, she sees Han Chen in the hallway ahead with his head down and talking to Cold Face about something.  Cold Face nods after Han Chen finishes and walks away quickly.  Han Chen goes back into the office.

Chapter 68: A Profile within the Profile Part 1

The Land Rover is on its way to the suburbs.

Han Chen has both hands on the wheel with his eyes looking straight.  After receiving the call about another female victim’s body has been found, he has been carrying a grim expression on his face.  Bai Jin Xi is sitting in the passenger seat with her arms crossed and also has an indifferent expression.  After a while, she notices Han Chen moving with the corner of her eye.

She shifts her gaze and sees that he still has a stark expression on his face.  One of his hands is on the steering wheel while the other is reaching into his pocket.  He fetches for a while and then pauses.

He then puts his hand back onto the steering wheel.

Watching these subtle movements of his, Jin Xi smiles slightly.  She tosses the troubling case to the back of her mind for the time being and asks while looking at him from the side, “You want a smoke?”  She empathizes him. Read more

Chapter 67: Typical Case Part 2

It’s already past 8pm when Han Chen’s car makes it home.

Jin Xi has been quiet throughout the whole ride and Han Chen has left her be.  The car stops still.  She pushes open the door and hops out of it, “I’m going to go buy some things.  You can go up first.”

Han Chen is holding the keyring with his pinky as he walks to her.  He lowers his head to look at her, “Where are you going?”

Jin Xi looks up and smiles, “Just the small supermarket ahead.”

“I’ll go with you.”

“There’s no need,” Jin Xi says feeling awkward, “I’m getting some feminine hygiene products.  What are you coming for?  It’ll make me uncomfortable.  Please don’t come.  Hurry and go home to take a shower.”

Han Chen stops his footsteps and watches her leave quickly.

Chapter 66: Typical Case Part 1

Darkness blankets the sky.

The few men from the Black Shield Team are making their way back to the office from the interrogation room.

Han Chen is walking in the front looking calm.  Chatterbox, who’s behind him, sighs, “Sigh!  We had a bunch of indirect evidence, but now this lie detector test result comes out.  We will definitely not be able to get an arrest order on Situ Yi.  We’ll have to release him after 48 hours.”

“Continue to monitor him,” Cold Face says simply.

Xiao Zhuan, on the other hand, looks around and murmurs, “Where did Xiao Bai go?  I didn’t see her back there either.”

Han Chen raises his head and looks around the hallway.

She’s nowhere to be seen.

The four of them enter the office, and they immediately notice the conference room’s door slightly closed.  Bai Jin Xi’s slender back view is facing towards them as she’s sitting on top of the table.  Her hands are pressed on the table and her head is tilted upwards slightly looking off to the ceiling or out the window.  The lights have not been turned on in the conference room, making it look gloomy.  And on the table behind where she’s sitting are a couple of papers and photos.
