Part 17: For My Wife to Play With

When people say that enemies often cross each other’s paths, this is probably what it’s like.

Wei Wei looks at those across from her; she can’t help but feel speechless about her and NaiHe’s opponents in their first battle of the points accumulation round.

 

The couples PK competition finally begins on Friday after much wait.  The first round is points accumulation competitions; it will take half a month and there are no audiences to watch the games.  The opponents are randomly picked by the system; the participating couple just needs to click on the NPC and they will be taken to a battling field.  They won’t know who their opponents are until they get there.

YuGong and the others send Wei Wei and NaiHe off as they click on the NPC to enter the field.  The moment they enter it, Wei Wei is dumbfound —-their opponents, standing on the other side of the field, are actually RealWaterIsScentless and LittleRainYaoYao (LittleRainEnchantress).

Participating players don’t begin their PK battles right away; the system sets up a 3-minute preparation time before the battle.  NaiHe glances at their opponents and says casually: “I’ll take care of LittleRainYaoYao.”

Part 14: Torturous Quest

When it comes to gossip, StormGoddessNiNi’s typing speed increases twofold; another message arrives right away: “They’re both in City B.  It’s such a coincidence.  Wei Wei, are you also there?”

Wei Wei: “Mm, I’m studying in City B.”

It’s not really much of a coincidence.  The server they’re on is called, “Imperial Storm,” and it’s normal for people from City B to all be on it.  Speaking of which, maybe the Great Master and YuGong and the others are also from City B……

Wei Wei falls into a daze.

StormGoddessNiNi: “I’m in City T, 555 (boohoohoo), otherwise I would meet up with you guys.  Oh right, I have a photo of RealWater and LittleRainYaoYao together.  RealWater is actually quite handsome.  I have their photo.  Wei Wei, do you want to see it?”

Wei Wei: “>o<, not interested”

Wei Wei is not the least bit curious in what RealWaterIsScentless looks like, otherwise, she would’ve asked for a photo a month or two ago before they “divorced.”  Another pair from the guild exchanged photos at the time, but they immediately separated after seeing how each other really looked like.  That was also when RealWater suggested trading photos; Wei Wei was caught by surprise and replied uneasily: “I don’t have a digital camera, so I don’t have any digital photos.”  Although it was true, it clearly sounded like a fake excuse to turn him down.

Wei Wei feels that regardless of what excuse is used, it doesn’t matter, as long as he understands that she has no interest in trading photos.  They are only acquaintances on the internet; they don’t know who they really are in real person, so they should be cautious of exchanging photos.  Furthermore, exchanging photos when they are a “married couple” in the game suggests a possible love relationship in real life, and Wei Wei doesn’t like this feeling at all.

But RealWaterIsScentless obviously didn’t think the same.  Thinking back now, that was when RealWater’s attitude changed. Read more

Part 12: White Robe Red Shadow

YuGong comes back on and says weakly: “I’m hurt.”

MoZhaHim (Don’tHitHim) despises him: “A guy like you can get hurt from falling on your butt?”

YuGong says angrily: “I’m hurt inside!  I’m talking about inside!”

Wei Wei: “>o<, you guys are roommates?”

Wei Wei has suspected that they know each other and live together in real life from their speech; they’re probably also fourth year students because she has seen them talking about graduation internship work.  But Wei Wei has never been interested in how other players in the game are in real life, so she never asks, but she blurts it out this time.

MonkeyWine: “We are in the same dorm.”

As expected!

Wei Wei looks at NaiHe subconsciously; so the Great Master is also a university student like herself?  Why does it feel surreal?  The Great Master should be…….

YuGong says: “Third sister-in-law, NaiHe often doesn’t come home at night.  You should keep an eye on him.”

MoZhaHim: “He doesn’t come home in the morning either!”

Part 8: Passing by

Wei Wei quickly puts those three LittleRain clan members to the back of her mind after returning to the area where she was collecting herbal ingredients.  But there’s one particular thing that she’s curious about, so she asks NaiHe while collecting: “How did you know that he was on a continuous quest?”

“I went online once in the afternoon and saw him posting on the world channel asking for seven kinds of feathers.”

NaiHe explains further for Wei Wei to understand.  NaiHe saw EvilBloodOath posting on the world channel asking for seven kinds of feathers in order to pass a stage in a quest.  Therefore, NaiHe knew that EvilBloodOath was on a continuous quest.

Wei Wei is a bit puzzled; how do finding seven kinds of feathers mean that he’s on a continuous quest?

“There are quite a few quests that require collecting feathers.”

NaiHe: “Mm, but the NPCs (Non-player characters) are different for each of the quests.  Collecting feathers is on the 36th stage.  I went to the NPC at the 36th stage, and he showed up soon after.”

Other than worshipping him, Wei Wei has no other thoughts.  He, he, he actually remembers which stage it was!  He actually remembers the NPCs of the different stages!  His memory is unbelievably amazing!  Knowing that she is still only up to the letter “p” in memorizing her English vocabularies, Wei Wei feels like crying; she praises him bitterly: “Your memory is too good.”

She suddenly realizes that the Great Master didn’t capture EvilBloodOath when he saw him in the afternoon; he estimated the time needed and purposely waited until night time on Celestial Mountains Snow Basins……

His calculative skills and scheming skills are just shocking……vicious >_< Read more

Part 6: Wei Wei The Follower

Although they’re now married, this is how Wei Wei thinks of their relationship.

Of course, NaiHe is the Great Master while she is the follower who rushes to the front when monsters appear and runs all kinds of errands……As to why Wei Wei feels this way, it is without a doubt due to that set of divine items.

After all, she can’t just accept free items from somebody without giving back >o<.  Therefore, Wei Wei decides to work hard to pay him back the debt!

 

Not much has changed after getting married; Wei Wei still spends most of her time with YuGong and the others to complete quests to level up.  She and NaiHe only leave the team once in a while to have some time together as a couple.

And spending time together as a couple actually just means completing couple quests.

In “Dream Voyage in Rivers and Lakes,” after a male and female player get married, they will gain three couple abilities.  If they attack together, these three abilities will automatically boost their impact.  Levelling up these three abilities will depend on the couple’s intimacy level.  In order to increase their intimacy level, other than wasting time in the bedroom, the most efficient way is to complete couple quests.

 

Male and female players can actually get married after reaching level 30, so for Wei Wei and ASmileNaiHe who married late, the beginning quests for couples are simply a piece of cake.  The battles are so easy that Great Master NaiHe doesn’t even have to fight; Wei Wei can handle them all by herself.

As a result, the most common image is the heroine in red slashing her saber in the front, while the white robed musician sits under a tree by the riverside playing his guqin poetically.

No matter what you say, the imagery is very beautiful and makes others envious.

Part 5: The wedding

The Computer Science Department’s team wins the game in the end and proceeds to the semifinals.  The Computer Science department students cheer in victory, but Xiao Nai never shows up in the end, so the girls feel rather upset.

Wei Wei dashes back to her dorm room right after, logs into the game, and sees that ASmileNaiHe’s (WhyNotJustSmile) avatar is already lit up in her friends list.  Wei Wei sends him a message: “Sorry, I’m late.”

ASmileNaiHe: “No problem. Come to Yue Lao’s temple” (God of marriage and love)

Wei Wei rides a horse to Yue Lao’s temple, but she is shocked by the big crowd of people in front.  Thankfully, there isn’t as many people once she goes inside; only a few are standing and chatting to each other.

Wei Wei walks up to ASmileNaiHe: “How come there are so many people?”  Wei Wei didn’t call any of her friends to come because she didn’t take this wedding seriously, as well as feeling a little embarrassed to tell others that she is getting married again so soon.

ASmileNaiHe says: “You ask them.”

Wei Wei looks at the others, and one of them called, TimelyRain, says: “Heh heh, congrats, congrats.  I told everyone who has nothing to do in our guild to come.  It’ll probably be a grand sight when they all ride their horses and follow behind the marriage sedan in a bit.”

Another one says: “People from our guild also came.”

TimelyRain says: “Everyone is waiting for NaiHe’s red pockets, hahahaha.”

Wei Wei feels extremely embarrassed.  There are probably a couple hundred of people outside.  Hopefully, NaiHe doesn’t go bankrupt after giving out red envelopes to everybody.

Just at this moment, Wei Wei receives a trading request from ASmileNaiHe; a couple of equipment items are on the list.  There isn’t any need to review them in detail; just from their glow, she knows that they are all divine level items.  Wei Wei asks in surprise, “This is?”

ASmileNaiHe says simply: “Betrothal gifts.”

Is…Is this how it feels like when you hook up with a sugar daddy?
