Chapter 71: Killing by Imitation Part 2
Jin Xi finishes saying out this big load of information, throws the marker away and turns around to look at Han Chen.
Han Chen has been staring at her this whole time as if he’s been entranced.
Jin Xi asks, “What’s the matter? Am I wrong? Don’t hate me now.”
Han Chen finally lowers his eyes, stands up straights and stuffs both of his hands into his pockets.
“You’ve said everything very well. Flawless and enlightening.”
Jin Xi’s mouth curves into a smile.
“Let’s go. Let’s head over to Shao Lun’s home. He should be caught by now,” he says. Read more

They look at each other in the eyes for a brief moment. Jin Xi smiles first.
“How did you know?”
After going through the details with Han Chen, all the evidence based on criminal psychology is laid out in front of her right now and points to the killer. But how is Han Chen able to know?
Han Chen leans on the table with his arms crossed while looking at her, “I’ve told you before, I only look at the evidence. Even if Situ Yi matches the profile a hundred percent——” he pauses before continuing, “he matches no more than a profile. We can’t conclude that he is the killer and cannot eliminate the possibility of other suspects. And after the lie detector test, this possibility increased.”
Jin Xi blinks.

Chapter 68: A Profile within the Profile Part 1
The Land Rover is on its way to the suburbs.
Han Chen has both hands on the wheel with his eyes looking straight. After receiving the call about another female victim’s body has been found, he has been carrying a grim expression on his face. Bai Jin Xi is sitting in the passenger seat with her arms crossed and also has an indifferent expression. After a while, she notices Han Chen moving with the corner of her eye.
She shifts her gaze and sees that he still has a stark expression on his face. One of his hands is on the steering wheel while the other is reaching into his pocket. He fetches for a while and then pauses.
He then puts his hand back onto the steering wheel.
Watching these subtle movements of his, Jin Xi smiles slightly. She tosses the troubling case to the back of her mind for the time being and asks while looking at him from the side, “You want a smoke?” She empathizes him. Read more

Chapter 67: Typical Case Part 2
It’s already past 8pm when Han Chen’s car makes it home.
Jin Xi has been quiet throughout the whole ride and Han Chen has left her be. The car stops still. She pushes open the door and hops out of it, “I’m going to go buy some things. You can go up first.”
Han Chen is holding the keyring with his pinky as he walks to her. He lowers his head to look at her, “Where are you going?”
Jin Xi looks up and smiles, “Just the small supermarket ahead.”
“I’ll go with you.”
“There’s no need,” Jin Xi says feeling awkward, “I’m getting some feminine hygiene products. What are you coming for? It’ll make me uncomfortable. Please don’t come. Hurry and go home to take a shower.”
Han Chen stops his footsteps and watches her leave quickly.

Chapter 66: Typical Case Part 1
Darkness blankets the sky.
The few men from the Black Shield Team are making their way back to the office from the interrogation room.
Han Chen is walking in the front looking calm. Chatterbox, who’s behind him, sighs, “Sigh! We had a bunch of indirect evidence, but now this lie detector test result comes out. We will definitely not be able to get an arrest order on Situ Yi. We’ll have to release him after 48 hours.”
“Continue to monitor him,” Cold Face says simply.
Xiao Zhuan, on the other hand, looks around and murmurs, “Where did Xiao Bai go? I didn’t see her back there either.”
Han Chen raises his head and looks around the hallway.
She’s nowhere to be seen.
The four of them enter the office, and they immediately notice the conference room’s door slightly closed. Bai Jin Xi’s slender back view is facing towards them as she’s sitting on top of the table. Her hands are pressed on the table and her head is tilted upwards slightly looking off to the ceiling or out the window. The lights have not been turned on in the conference room, making it look gloomy. And on the table behind where she’s sitting are a couple of papers and photos. Read more

Mother Han’s phone call is a series of inquiries of his well being as usual.
Han Chen stands up holding the phone. He walks into the conference room and leaves a small door gap.
“The weather is getting cold in City Lan, so make sure you dress for it. Don’t be like your dad and think that you’ve got a great healthy body. He caught a cold just yesterday.”
Han Chen smiles leaning on the edge of the conference room’s table. He looks at the sky outside of the window, “Take good care of him. Since I’m not around, I’ll have to trouble you.”
Mother Han smiles too. She changes the subject, “I called Xin Jia yesterday. She seems a bit depressed. Do you know what’s the matter?”
“I don’t pay attention to her matters, so I don’t know.” Read more

“A murder case? That’s impossible. Director Situ is such a nice person. How could he be involved in the case?”
“Although I don’t know how the police work, I give you my word that there is nothing wrong with Situ.”

Chapter 63: As a Monster
4 am. The questioning session with Situ Yi begins.
Regarding this time of day that Han Chen picked, Jin Xi feels: it’s shameless yet it makes sense. It fits the style of a top notch detective. Since they’ve left the man alone for the whole night, this is the time that he would be the most sleepy.
But Situ Yi really surprises everyone.
Inside the well-lit room, Han Chen and Bai Jin Xi sit down in front of him. He smiles politely. As tired as he may be, his eyes are still bright and he still looks very gentlemanly as if he hasn’t once let himself relax.
“Hello,” he greets them proactively.
Jin Xi raises her head and her eyes meet with his.
His eyes are deep and dark, carrying a hint of a smile and full of gentleness. On top of the fact that he has a beautiful face, even Jin Xi can’t stop her heart from beating faster when being stared at by this man.
He is really……a devil. Read more

The night is quiet.
Jin Xi and the others are busy organizing the information and the recordings they’ve gathered. Han Chen walks out of the office by himself. He stands in the hallway, looks up at the stars in the sky and many dots of lights in the city.
He keeps quiet for a moment before taking out his phone.
In his cellphone, there’s a text message sent by Ji Bai from tonight.
Ji Bai, the friend whom he had asked to help him investigate the murder case that happened in Beijing five years ago.
“I’ve sent you the details via email.
Whatever it is that you want to do, be cautious and protect those who are around you well.
Ji Bai.”
Han Chen opens his mailbox. Read more
