Chapter 61: Who’s Being a Psycho Part 2
The night is quiet.
Jin Xi and the others are busy organizing the information and the recordings they’ve gathered. Han Chen walks out of the office by himself. He stands in the hallway, looks up at the stars in the sky and many dots of lights in the city.
He keeps quiet for a moment before taking out his phone.
In his cellphone, there’s a text message sent by Ji Bai from tonight.
Ji Bai, the friend whom he had asked to help him investigate the murder case that happened in Beijing five years ago.
“I’ve sent you the details via email.
Whatever it is that you want to do, be cautious and protect those who are around you well.
Ji Bai.”
Han Chen opens his mailbox. Read more

Chapter 61: Who’s Being a Psycho Part 1
“Jin Lan Heng is not the killer.
His biggest difference from being a psychopathic killer is: when I tried to verbally anger him, he was a bit stunned and he explained himself patiently. He did not show too many emotions or any impulsive behaviors. We could say that he has a very good mental state and has a strong ability to adjust himself.
If our killer is someone who has great resentment and hatred towards women, when he is humiliated by a woman, he would definitely not be able to stay calm. Furthermore, Jin Lan Heng does not like extreme sports and is reluctant to spend money on women. Have you ever seen a psychopathic killer mind so much on the details when hunting his prey? Have you seen one who would continuously reason with you and would not spend any money until he is given some freebies?”
The Land Rover is speeding in the night. Bai Jin Xi talks about many things causing everyone in the car to laugh.
Xiao Zhuan says after thinking for a moment, “But could this all just be his disguise?” Read more

Chapter 60: His True Face Part 2
Bai Jin Xi blinks.
Since he has come to her, there’s no way that she’ll let him go now. She puts her arm on the bar table and smiles towards him, “Sure.”
Outside of the clubhouse and inside the Land Rover, Xiao Zhuan and the other two are staring at the monitor. Jin Lan Heng’s face has been enlarged on the screen, and they are on full alert. And inside of the clubhouse, Han Chen, who’s not far away from Jin Xi, is watching this scene quietly at his seat.
Jin Lan Heng sits down beside Jin Xi. He unbuttons the top of his shirt and opens up his collar. Jin Xi has seen Han Chen perform the same action many times, which is full of flirtatiousness. But seeing Jin Lan Heng’s tanned skin tone and a rather short neck……
She picks up her glass quietly and takes a sip.
“My surname is Jin. Jin Lan Heng. I manage some things at Jin’s Building Materials,” Jin Lan Heng says nonchalantly. He then looks at Jin Xi as if he’s waiting for her surprised expression. Read more

Chapter 59: His True Face Part 1
Darkness fills the sky.
Sitting in the bar street near CBD makes them feel as if they also have a dab of aloofness and temperament of the rich. The neon lights on each side of the street don’t sting their eyes too much, and the music isn’t too loud. The tree canopies cast shadows around them, making everything seem like a prosperous illusion.
Chatterbox, Cold Face, Xiao Zhuan, and Han Chen are sitting in the car, keeping watch of “Crystal Private Clubhouse,” the tallest building that’s not far away. Compared to the bars around, the square shaped clubhouse seems quieter and low-profile. Only the lights on the main entrance shine brilliantly. There are cars continuously stopping at the front, and most of them who get out of the cars are well-dressed men and sometimes women. Read more

Chapter 58: My Heart’s Addiction
It’s already 8pm when Han Chen and Bai Jin Xi return home.
They’ve set up cameras and stations to monitor the three suspects, and tomorrow, they will both start working in rotating shifts. Whether or not they can find a breakthrough in this case, they’ll have to see how things go.
It’s been two days since they’ve returned home. Coldness seems to fill the whole place. Han Chen must be exhausted. He takes off his jacket, change into his slippers, sits on the sofa and doesn’t move. Jin Xi looks at the side of his face and feels her heart ache, so she doesn’t go over to bother him. She has had time to sleep in the last two days, so she’s still quite energized. She thinks for a minute before walking over to the balcony and turning the water heater on. The washing machine is just below the water heater. She takes off her jacket and sweater, leaving just a round neck t-shirt on.
When she walks back into the living room, she sees Han Chen still sitting on the sofa with one arm on the armrest and looks to be thinking about something. Read more

Chapter 57: The First Sight of Suspicion Part 2
The second suspect is Jiang Zi Yi. Unlike Jin Lan Heng, Jiang Zi Yi is the absolute representation of a noble and rich bachelor. He’s 1.8 meters tall, skinny, yet has a well-built body. He wears gold rim glasses, has fair white skin and looks proper. He’s very well dressed. He doesn’t have as many brand name accessories as Jin Lan Heng, but he gives others the sense of pure nobleness.
He’s a senior engineer at a well-known IT company. Although he’s not in a management position, his income and status are no less than an owner of a normal small business company.
“He returned from America. Both of his parents are abroad,” Xiao Zhuan explains while thinking, “Xiao Bai, this guy matches the profile the most out of the three. Young, handsome, rich, has a particular lifestyle, and his hobbies are drinking wine and playing with women. According to the information gathered, he has an indecent private life. He often stays at various nightclubs and parties. But he’s a quiet individual. Five months ago, he was involved in a financial case and was temporarily suspended at work to be investigated. But there was no evidence, so he was released. Furthermore, he also owns a mansion and an SUV.” Read more

Chapter 56: The First Sight of Suspicion Part 1
The temperature is cold in the early morning of autumn.
Jin Xi enters the office at dawn. There aren’t many passersby in the building at this hour. When she passes a group of officers, she sees a few of them leaning crookedly against their chairs and sleeping. They’ve clearly been busy following Han Chen all night long.
She pushes open the Black Shield Team’s office door and sees Chatterbox leaning forward and sleeping on his desk. Although he looks refined on the outside, his snoring is incredibly loud. Xiao Zhuan is sitting in front of his computer. The monitor’s light is reflecting on his face as he types on the keyboard. He notices her arrival and reveals a slight smile, “It’s still early. Leader said we’ll wait until it’s office hours before bringing the suspects in for questioning so that we don’t inadvertently alert the killer.”
Jin Xi nods. Seeing that Han Chen’s and Cold Face’s seats are empty, she raises her head to take a look at the half-closed door of the room in the back.
“They just went inside for a nap,” Xiao Zhuan whispers, “Both of them haven’t slept for two nights. Do you want to go accompany Leader? I’ll keep a lookout for you!” Read more

Chapter 55: She’s Better Than Me (2 of 2)
The corners of Bai Jin Xi’s mouth curve upward as she flips through some documents. She then hears footsteps and chatter coming from the doorway.
The deputy chief of the criminal investigations department is walking past with two unfamiliar faces from the meeting just now.
Jin Xi puts down the documents immediately and stands up. At the same time, she sees the deputy chief talking to one of them and pointing inside, “This is the Black Shield Team’s office. Have a look around, Professor Xu. Xiao Bai, pour a cup of tea for Professor Xu.”
Jin Xi nods right away.
But the person answers with a smile, “No need. You people always like to bully those of us who study criminal psychology. I’m here to cheer for her, not to drink tea.” Read more

Chapter 55: She’s Better Than Me (1 of 2)
The meeting is adjourned.
The investigators get up one after the other. The members of the Black Shield Team also stand up. Jin Xi looks up and sees that Han Chen is still standing at the very front. He’s been called to stay behind by the Chief to chat.
“Not bad, Han Chen,” a loud and slightly raspy voice says, attracting everyone’s attention.
It’s one of the veteran investigators speaking with the surname Xun. He’s near his retirement and has a head full of white hair, but he is highly respected in the team. The moment he speaks, the Chief, Qin Wen Long, Han Chen and the others all turn to look.
“Although this case is a bit challenging, as long as we are like Han Chen and put all of our efforts on our solid and detailed investigation work, it’ll only be a matter of time before we solve the case!” Old Xun says.
“Yes!” “Yes!” Many investigators start clapping in agreement. Jin Xi and the others also smile and clap along to support their Leader. Han Chen, on the other hand, doesn’t have much of an expression on his face. Read more

Chapter 54: Painstaking Investigation
Han Chen is standing in the light. His jacket is unzipped, making his shoulders look broad, waist slim and legs long. He looks very calm, but also carrying his usual sense of being indifferent. He isn’t like when he’s alone with Jin Xi where he’s always smiling.
“No assumptions on the suspect’s age or appearance. But since he was able to carry a 50-60 kg dead body from the road to the forest and carefully avoided leaving behind any clear footprints or marks, it shows that he was able to complete the process very effortlessly. Therefore, he should be an adult male who’s strong and well-built.”
Jin Xi smiles the moment she hears him say “no assumptions on the suspect’s age or appearance.” This fellow……he’s doing it on purpose! Read more
