Part 43: Swimming, oh, swimming

Swimming, oh, swimming~~~

Wei Wei’s image of swimming is like this: The Great Master is shirtless and wearing a thin and short pair of swim trunks; his body moves in and out of the ripples gracefully……and as for her, she’ll lie on the reclining chair by the side, enjoy her drink in the cool breeze, and watch over; even better if she has a camera……

And the reality is——

 

After arriving at the house, Wei Wei takes out his swim trunks from her purse and hands it over to him.  Xiao Nai takes it, and his eyebrows twitch.

“How come you took this one.”

“Huh?” She didn’t really look when she grabbed them, so what’s the problem?

“This was a present from my aunt after I won first place in swimming.  I’ve never worn it before.”

“You don’t like it?”

“I don’t mind,” Xiao Nai smiles slightly, “I just never knew that Wei Wei actually likes this style.”

 

He goes get changed and walks out in his swim wear.  It is then that Wei Wei realizes which style he was referring to…..

It is the thin and short……and skin tight kind……

 

Wei Wei’s head is dizzy from the fully exposed view of a male, so when the Great Master asks her, “Why haven’t you changed yet,” she obediently changes into the swimsuit that she has just bought.

Luckily, she comes back to her senses when she comes out; she grabs an oversized towel to cover herself.

 

Xiao Nai is already swimming comfortably in the pool.  Once he spots her, he swims to the side of the pool and reaches out his hand.

“Come down.”

“No.  I don’t know how to swim.” Wei Wei holds on to her towel tightly and refuses to go into the water.

“I’ll teach you.”

Wei Wei thinks for a moment but still doesn’t find the courage, “……at most I’ll dip my feet into the water at the side of the pool.”

 

Xiao Nai is speechless and decides to leave her alone; he swims out to the pool by himself.  Wei Wei’s gaze follows him, watching him soar through the ripples, and diving in and out freely.  Her face flushes as his slim yet masculine body disappears and reappears in front of her.

It seems that she is becoming more and more perverted after being with the Great Master~~

Wei Wei repents on herself while she continues to watch him brazenly.  She is tempted to jump in herself after a while, so she sits by the pool side and puts her legs into the water.

The cool and refreshing feeling immediately passes through her legs, comforting all the pores of her body.

Wei Wei is having a great time splashing her feet with the water and doesn’t notice where Xiao Nai has gone to.  By the time she realizes, Xiao Nai has already swum to her side; he grabs her ankle and tugs her down.

 

Wei Wei falls into the water unprepared, so she drinks a few mouthfuls……of the water that she soaked her feet in……

And because she falls into a moment of chaos, someone transfers air to her from mouth to mouth……

And because she doesn’t want to drown, she clings tightly onto someone’s half naked body……

 

Anyhow……it’s more than words can explain……

By the time they go home, Wei Wei has only learned a little bit of swimming, but, her body and soul……have experienced great losses T__T

 

Although Classmate Xiao Nai was the champion of intercollegiate swimming league, he’s not so passionate in the sport that he would swim every day.  However, he has become passionate about it after today.  Since his relative’s house is vacant, he brings Wei Wei with him every night to go swimming for two hours.

Wei Wei has grown to like swimming, but as for a certain someone taking advantage of her while using the name “instructor” as an excuse, she continues to resist firmly.  Although she is determined to fight against him, her strength cannot compare to his; she often end up succumbing to his seductions when she’s not careful…….

Therefore, in the Great Master’s relative’s pool, Wei Wei can often be seen hustling around in the water……

One time, when Wei Wei was fighting to break free, she even said “we’re not so close to the point of bathing together yet, are we?”  But after thinking about it, she realized that they were the only ones in the pool, so it wasn’t far off from bathing together = =

But Xiao Nai’s reaction was——

“I didn’t know Wei Wei likes it more stimulating.”

Since Wei Wei can’t find it in herself to be as shameless as him, she has no choice but to let it be.

 

So when she receives a call from ButterflyDreams, Wei Wei is quite happy.  After all, indulging in a swimming feast every day is a bit too nutritional…

ButterflyDreams asks, “Wei Wei, are you free tomorrow night?  Let’s go for dinner.”

“Tomorrow?” Wei Wei thinks for a brief second and then responds, “Okay.”

Wei Wei isn’t trying to avoid swimming with the Great Master by responding so quickly, it’s just that she remembers that it was ButterflyDreams who treated her last time at Pizza Hut, so she feels that she should treat her back this time round.

Therefore, on the next day, Wei Wei ditches a certain someone and makes her way to dinner carrying her stuffed wallet.  But when she arrives in front of the restaurant, she feels a bit uneasy looking at its extravagant decor.

She should have enough money, right?…..

Whatever, she’ll just call the Great Master to rescue her if anything.

Wei Wei takes out her cell phone and messages ButterflyDreams: “I’m here, where are you?”

ButterflyDreams replies right away: “Chrysanthemum Pavillion.”

 

Inside the private room, ButterflyDreams puts her phone away.

“She’s here.”

LittleRainQingQing (LittleRainForeverYoung) asks doubtfully, “Is she really a beauty?  Is she prettier than YaoYao?”

A little more than ten minutes ago, during this gathering and reunion meeting organized by LittleRainQingQing for their guild, Sound of Blue Ocean Tides Pavilion, ButterflyDreams “accidentally” revealed that she had seen ReedWeiWei (HumbleReed) in person, and that she was very pretty.

Members who have shown up are: BattleTheWorld, the LittleRain clan, RealWaterIsScentless, and a few other players from City B.  The majority of them knows or has heard of ReedWeiWei, but none of them believes that ReedWeiWei is a beauty.

Members of the LittleRain clan are even more skeptical about it; they even taunted ButterflyDreams to invite ReedWeiWei to come.

As a result, ButterflyDreams pretended to go outside to make a phone call when in fact, she had already confirmed the date with Wei Wei yesterday, just to be on the safe side.

 

ButterflyDreams does not answer LittleRainQingQing’s question right away, keeping everyone on the edge of their seats; she comments after, “You’ll find out once she’s here.”

“Ah!” LittleRainQingQing exclaims, “I know!  She’s definitely not as pretty as YaoYao.  After all, YaoYao is the number one most beautiful girl out of all the servers combined.”

LittleRainYaoYao (LittleRainEnchantress) says feeling a bit embarrassed and annoyed at the same time, “Stop over exaggerating it.  You shouldn’t compare everyone to me.”

LittleRainQingQing makes a cute gesture of sticking out her tongue, “Okay, okay.  It degrades your status, right?”

 

ButterflyDreams watches LittleRainYaoYao as she sneers in her heart.

Go ahead and laugh!  Let’s see if you can still laugh out loud in a bit.

What’s so special about you that make others revolve around you?  What right do you LittleRain clan members have to boss others around in my guild, which I’m the founder of?  You’re no more than a pretty face that has been named the so-called number one beauty of the Rivers and Lakes.  What right do you have to be in such happiness?  Don’t you know that your happiness stings my eyes?  Do you not know how fake you are for suggesting this reunion meeting?

If it weren’t for you, BattleTheWorld would not have met LittleRainQingQing.

You have no idea how much I hate you.

Nevertheless, your true challenge is yet to come.

Can your love withstand it?

Probably not!

It’s a love relationship built around facial features.  Would a guy like RealWaterIsScentless be unmoved by other’s attractiveness?  When such captivating and mesmerizing charm is right in front of him?

Moreover, he was ReedWeiWei’s husband; what’s more hurtful and regretful than knowing that you once possessed something and then lost it inadvertently?

But…

If you can really overcome this challenge, I will give you two my blessings!  My most sincere blessing!

ButterflyDreams drains her glass in one gulp!

 

The table continues to chitchat happily, but everyone’s eyes can’t help glancing over at the door every now and then.  After a while, the door opens, and everyone’s eyes immediately dart towards it.  Greeting them is a round smiling face.  Can you call that a beauty?  LittleRainQingQing scoffs, but she very quickly realizes that it’s just the waitress.

And then, another girl walks in from behind the waitress.

The girl nods politely to the waitress, and while she does, a few strands of hair slides down to her attractive and pearly neck.  When she turns her head, her soft and silky hair reveals a gorgeous face that causes others to skip a beat; her eyes shining like stars.  Her lashes twitch when a tint of shock seems to brush across her eyes, but her facial expression adds further to her brilliance.
ButterflyDreams has already met Wei Wei before, but seeing Wei Wei wearing a soft pink v-neck tight waist floral dress, she is mesmerized by her again.  It takes her a while to stand up and greet her.

“Wei Wei.”

Her greeting sends shockwaves to everyone at the table.  Everyone simply feels that the girl who has just walked in is extremely beautiful, but they did not make the connection to “ReedWeiWei.”  Their minds finally click after hearing ButterflyDreams call her.

 

She’s actually ReedWeiWei?

How can she possibly be ReedWeiWei!?

If she is ReedWeiWei, then the so-called number beauty of Rivers and Lakes……

Everyone coincidentally shifts their gazes to LittleRainYaoYao, and they all feel that she’s——

too ordinary.

Compared to someone so captivating and gorgeous, LittleRainYaoYao’s pure and innocent prettiness suddenly seems too dull and boring.

Furthermore……

Her body shape is far from being comparable.

LittleRainYaoYao is actually also very pretty.  It’s just that because everyone has seen her so many times that there is no more surprise.  There are photos and videos of her on the forum; seeing her in real person actually makes one feel that she looks better in photos; at least her skin looks a lot better in photos.  Therefore, ReedWeiWei, who isn’t wearing any makeup and has never been known as a beauty, immediately attracts everyone’s gazes.

And as a result, everyone feels rather perplexed.  If this girl is ReedWeiWei, how was LittleRainYaoYao able to snatch RealWaterIsScentless from her?

Everyone glances over to RealWaterIsScentless simultaneously.

Men understand the lustful nature of men the most.  When RealWaterIsScentless divorced ReedWeiWei in the game and married LittleRainYaoYao at lightning speed, although other male players from the guild felt that it was a selfish act, they were envious in their hearts.  But seeing ReedWeiWei now, all the other male players at the table can feel that RealWaterIsScentless must be punching himself inside his heart.

 

ButterflyDreams doesn’t stray from watching the reactions from LittleRainYaoYao and RealWaterIsScentless; she presses her lips into a curve in satisfaction and says to the waitress, “Excuse me, please add another seat beside me here.”

She then tells Wei Wei, “Wei Wei, sit here.”

Wei Wei nods and makes her way there.  Her expression is normal, but she speedily assesses the current situation before her in her heart.

In reality, when she received ButterflyDreams’s text indicating the private room that she was in, Wei Wei already sensed something fishy, but she decided to trust her friend and didn’t think otherwise.  She never thought that things would turn out like this the moment she entered.

Wei Wei doesn’t recognize anybody besides ButterflyDreams, but she recalls LittleRainYaoYao’s face.  Since LittleRainYaoYao is here, the identity of the other people becomes obvious.

This must be some City B gathering for Sound of Blue Ocean Tides Pavilion.

But she doesn’t know why they’ve asked her to come.

 

Wei Wei takes a seat beside ButterflyDreams; everybody’s heartbeat seems to settle back in place, but it still feels a bit unreal.  LittleRainQingQing blurts out, “You’re ReedWeiWei?”

Her voice is a bit pitchy.  Wei Wei glances at her, and nods.

“Yes.”

Since she’s here already, she’ll just go with the flow.  Wei Wei nods her head and greets everyone gracefully, “Hello everyone, I’m ReedWeiWei.”

Part 41: His World

The QA (quality assurance) department is the least technical department in the company compared to others.  The minimal requirement for a position here is to have experience and passion for gaming.  Wei Wei is an expert in online gaming nonetheless, therefore, she is more than qualified for the job.

The job of a QA is rather dull; you may need to converse with the same NPC continuously to see if there are any bugs, or you may need to traverse the same map over and over again……it’s definitely not what outsiders think where you only need to play the game casually and that’s it.

The QA department is scheduled to run a few tests on a major quest today.  Since the department has always been low in manpower, they’re more than happy to accept a helping hand.  The members of the team were originally worried that their Boss’s rumored beautiful girlfriend was only here to pass the time.  Who knew that she only needed to learn the new controls for Dream Voyage 2 and she was off to be a pro?

The manager of the QA department can’t help but feel that he has struck gold; he immediately feels approval towards Wei Wei, his boss’s future wife. Read more

Part 40: The Little Intern

 

It doesn’t matter whether Wei Wei did use her lovely charm or not, or what the process was. In short, on Monday morning, Xiao Nai punctually appears at the foot of Xiao Ling’s building to take Wei Wei to the company together.

Today, Wei Wei is wearing a white blouse paired with a black skirt bottom. The description makes it seem very professional, but that’s not actually the case. The blouse is a bit childish in style. The two sides of the skirt are sewed with folds with a bow strapped around her slender waist. She looks both cute and classy.

By chance, Xiao Nai, also, actually has on a simple white shirt with black pants. With the two of them walking side by side, they look as if they had deliberately wore a couple’s outfit. They look both energetic and relaxed, continuously drawing the gaze of those passing by. Read more

Part 39: I’m too embarrassed >0<

He fixes his shirt and goes outside.

The door closes.  Wei Wei doesn’t even have the strength to go back and sit on the sofa; she slides down with her back against the door and sits on the floor.  With her arms wrapped around her legs, her ears and face are red as she feels restless yet vexed and annoyed at the same time……

It’s a long while later when Wei Wei finally regains her strength and clears her mind from all the mixed emotions.

Wei Wei gets up in a second.  After all, how can she just squat here waiting for him?  That’s too absurd!  No way!  It’s best to hurry and run away.

Part 37: Flowers Blooming

The heatwave in City B has gone on for a few days now.  Even when it’s nighttime, the temperature does not go down a degree.

The conference finally ends at 6pm.  YuGong follows Xiao Nai to the office, wanting to tag along for dinner.  After taking a seat on the sofa leisurely, YuGong asks frivolously, “Hey, so you and our department’s beauty are just going to live in two different cities?”

Xiao Nai walks behind to his desk, leans over slightly, and starts typing on his keyboard, “Our relationship is not to that degree yet.  It’s unjustified. What do you want me to do?”

Would you listen to that?!

Those words!  That tone!

It’s finally your turn to be in pain!

YuGong is elated and can’t suppress the joyous feeling, but he carefully restrains himself from revealing it.  The fellow in front of him is too smart, and he still owes him a couple hundred bucks.

“Sigh, this is quite depressing.” YuGong shows his sympathy.  Just as he is about to say “let us two unfortunate people have dinner together,” he sees Xiao Nai shut down his computer and looking like he is about to leave.  YuGong suddenly panics.

“You’re leaving so soon today?”

“Mm.”

“Where are you going?”

“Getting married and having kids.”

The white-robed musician who normally has accurate and fast APM (actions per minute) doesn’t actually click on accept until after a few seconds.

“The hairpin that you had is one of the best, but I wanted to see if I could make one even better.”

She really did end up making one that was extremely valuable.

In “Dream Voyage in Rivers and Lakes,” the high level equipment offered by the System Bot are called Divine Immortal Weapons, while the ones that are made by players themselves are called Mortal Weapons. But that doesn’t mean that the stats on a Mortal Weapon can’t surpass Immortal Weapons. The hairpin Wei Wei made is one of those that have better stats than general Immortal Weapons. However, it’s extremely difficult for a player to create a Rare Mortal Weapon; besides requiring precious materials and the player having high stats, it’s also based on probability.

 

“^_^, my luck’s not bad, right?”

Wei Wei nervously types over. There’s a lot more things she wants to say now. It’s as if the more she talks, the less she feels pressured. But as embarrassed as she is, if she had to do it again, she would still say those words again.

 

Her fingers pause as the white-robed musician says, “It’s me with the good luck.”

Wei Wei’s face becomes scalding hot. Maybe it’s just her with ulterior thoughts, but it seems like those extremely ordinary words of his seems to hold a deeper meaning.

“…eh, we are both lucky then.” What is she saying…

As if he can feel her embarrassment through the computer, Xiao Nai slightly smiles, “What does FaWei mean?”

“It means hairpin (Fa Zan) by Wei Wei.” Wei Wei, being a sciences student without a single romantic brain cell, feels that this is very easily understood, “If you don’t like it, you can change it. I don’t have a literary brain.”

“No need to change it. I really like it.”

 

Tying hair (the knot) with Wei.

Why wouldn’t he like it?

 

“Oh.”

Wei Wei answers without figuring out the “deeper meaning” to it. After uttering a sound, she wants to run away, “I’ll head off now. I’m tired from all the playing today and want to sleep early.”

The white-robed musician doesn’t try to stop her, “All right, thank you for your hard work, my wife.”

“……”

This person…seems to always say things with double meanings. She doesn’t know whether he’s saying that she’s been hard working from playing or from making the equipment. Awkwardly, Wei Wei leaves behind a string of dot dot dots and quickly disconnects.

 

The red figure disappears from the cliff. The seconds tick by. Only after quite a few minutes do the slender fingers on the laptop gently tap on the right mouse button to put on the new hairpin.

The white jade hairpin trickling with light, shines with translucence/sparkles and shines clearly on his pitch black hair. Xiao Nai gazes at it, mesmerized.

He suddenly really wants to see her.

“Hoho, let me first say that I’ve recently been having good luck and getting good hands. You better pay up when the time comes.” YuGong dumps out the mahjong tiles with a crash.

Xiao Nai sits down by the table without comment.

……

……

An hour later.

Xiao Nai pushes the tiles in front of him down, “Same suit, consecutive chain. You better pay up.”

YuGong is brimming with tears.

MonkeyWine pats him sympathetically, “So sad, I didn’t think that third brother treating guests today has become you paying the bill in the end.”

“Who said I’m paying the bill? The night is still young.” YuGong pats down on the table, “Again! I’m going to turn this around.”

 

The night is indeed young.

This night is a night forever engraved in their memory, the last night for the seniors at this school. The younger classmen have just been freed from exams and the entire school is stirring restlessly with happiness. The lights of many dorm rooms stay on for the entire night.

However, the night still passes in the end and the next morning arrives. Classmate YuGong has still not turned things around and sadly steps into the workforce with a couple hundred dollars of debt on hisshoulders.

As for Wei Wei, she also leaves City B at dusk to go home for summer vacation.

 

“Wei Wei, your train ticket is so early.”

Xiao Ling and Er Xi carry Wei Wei’s luggage together to walk with Wei Wei downstairs.

“That’s right.”

Replying absentmindedly, Wei Wei looks down from the window in the staircase. Between the trees, she can see that Xiao Nai’s car is already waiting downstairs.

Xiao Ling also sticks out her head and giggles happily, “It is nice having a boyfriend whose parents are professors. His car can be driven in the school. Otherwise, you’d have to ride the bus to the school gates. So inconvenient.”

“Otherwise, how can he be called the ever capable Great Master? But, Wei Wei,” Er Xi says, “you’re leaving so early. Your (family’s) Great Master isn’t upset about it?”

 

He shouldn’t be upset…right?

In the car, Wei Wei secretly observes him. No matter how you look at him, the Great Master looks concentrated on driving. The side profile of his refreshing and handsome face doesn’t have any expression on it, but he obviously doesn’t look happy either.

Embarrassed, Wei Wei offers up the little plastic bag she has been holding in her hands the entire time; inside is a small cactus in a pot, “This is for you.”

Xiao Nai glances at it, “New dowry?”

As expected, the Great Master isn’t going to let the word dowry go. He was probably too late about expressing it yesterday. “It’s the cactus that I’ve been growing. I can’t take care of it over summer vacation, so I wanted to give it to you to take care of.”

“Oh,” Xiao Nai quietly says, “so that I will think of you whenever I see it?”

 

Hey, don’t make this awkward!

She knows that only telling him during lunch that she was leaving that night was a bit abrupt, but it’s not her fault either. Wei Wei whispers, “I didn’t purposely book it this early. When the school booked tickets as a group, I didn’t know you then.”

Facing the facts, Xiao Nai doesn’t have anything to say about it either.

 

When they get to North Station, Xiao Nai goes to buy a platform ticket. Wei Wei follows him. When Xiao Nai takes the change and ticket from the counter, Wei Wei suddenly leans over to ask the ticket seller, “Are there still tickets to go to City W for tomorrow or the day after?”

The ticket seller doesn’t even check before saying, “No, all tickets in the next five days are gone.”

It is the expected response, but the Great Master’s sudden expression when looking at her makes her feel depressed.

 

Eventually, there is a trace of a smile at the corners of Xiao Nai’s lips. He pulls her out of the crowd, takes out his cellphone, and starts dialing.

“How’s a plane ticket for the day after tomorrow?”

Wei Wei is startled for a bit before understanding what he means. She quickly stops him, “There’s no need.”

Even if it’s just one more day, she still has to leave in the end. Asking earlier was just an impulsive move. Now that she’s calmed down, she feels that it’s improper. Wei Wei says with her head hanging, “I already told my dad that I’ll be home tomorrow morning.”

With the mood a bit down, she watches him put the cellphone back into his pocket, depressed.

But…

“Forget it.”

He sighs, pulls her hand and walks towards the waiting hall. Xiao Nai compromises, “Give me a call immediately once you get home.”

Wei Wei relaxes and quickly nods.

“Buy a cellphone soon.”

She continues to nod and makes a solemn vow, “I’ll buy one as soon as I get home.”

Wei Wei suddenly recalls the talk last night with her dorm mates. Er Xi asked why the Great Master didn’t buy a cellphone for her. At the time, how did she reply — the Great Master wouldn’t do such inappropriate things.

Her heart suddenly feels a kind of happiness from having connected minds.

 

Xiao Nai goes with her onto the train. Just as he puts the luggage in place, the conductor makes a reminder that the train is leaving soon.

“You should go quickly.” Wei Wei doesn’t know what to say at this time either and only knows to urge him, “remember to take care of the cactus.”

Actually, the cactus would be all right even if it isn’t watered for a few months. But when she was packing up last night, the first thing that flashed through her mind was to give it to the Great Master. The first reason is that she had noticed that the Great Master’s office didn’t even have a pot of cactus to absorb the radiation. “Wei Wei, have a good trip.”

 

Wei Wei does indeed have a “good trip (go with the wind)” home.

Part 35: Making up for the dowry

The buzz of the forum topic gradually fades from everyone’s scrutiny after the last two gossip items.

 

First gossip item.

It is said that on a certain day, a certain male student ran into the rumored male lead at the bottom of the dorm building. Being so excited, he tried to get to the bottom of the matter, braving the risk to his life, “What are your thoughts about the topic on the forum?”

Part 34: The Truth

Wei Wei looks at him, unable to shift her gaze, and suddenly feels a bit of uneasiness.

She doesn’t like this at all.  It’s as if he has become an object for fighting back and showing off; and also in a circumstance that he isn’t even aware of.

Er Xi observes her expression and says nervously, “Wei Wei, you’re not backing out last minute now, are you?!”

What do you mean backing out last minute?  When did she ever say she wanted to fight?!

Wei Wei glares at her while feeling depressed inside.  They’re supposed to be going out for dinner, but with this going on, a simple dinner gathering has become complicated.

Forget it.  She’ll just pretend that those people are not there.  They just happen to be eating at the same restaurant.  With that in mind, Wei Wei reminds her roommates, “You guys better focus on eating and talk less.”

She realizes that that isn’t right since French cuisine is expensive, so she quickly adds, “Don’t eat too much either!”
