Part 11: Video

If it weren’t for StormGoddessNiNi’s (StormGoddessGirl’s) bombshell of a message, Wei Wei would simply think that she is standing at the end of time.

Of course, the so-called end of time is —- lights out in the dormitory >o<

 

StormGoddessNiNi: “WeiWei, send me the video. Send me the video.”

Wei Wei: “What video?”

StormGoddessNiNi: “The one of your husband beating up RealWater single-handedly, the video of the duel! Even though I bought a ticket to go see it, the audience wasn’t allowed to record it.”

Single-handedly beating up…Wei Wei is embarrassed by her description: “Our (family’s) NaiHe is very refined…”

As soon as she types out this sentence, Wei Wei becomes embarrassed by her own doing. Why did she add “our” in front of NaiHe?!!! How come she subconsciously typed out that word?

>o<, it must be due to the influence of YuGong and them. They often thrown in words like “Our (family’s) third sister-in-law”, “Your (family’s) NaiHe.” Wei Wei speechlessly deletes the sentence and types up a new sentence: “You actually bought an admissions ticket!”

Buying an admissions ticket to see a duel is one of the twisted features of “Dream Voyage in Rivers and Lakes.” After purchasing an admissions ticket and clicking on the bodyguard in front of the gates of the imperial palace, the player will be sent to the battlefield. Generally speaking, the higher the levels of the two opponents, the more expensive the admissions ticket. Of course, people don’t go and see every duel.

StormGoddessNiNi: “RealWater was defeated so badly, even if he did record it, he wouldn’t put it out. Your husband must have recorded it.”

Wei Wei: “…he didn’t record it.”

She doesn’t even have to ask this question. With her understanding of the Great Master, the Great Master would never record such an insignificant battle. Read more

Part 10: Sinister, too sinister

Du…Du…Duel?!

Wei Wei is so alarmed, her tongue nearly ties into a knot. After a long time she says: “Why would RealWater agree to duel?”

No matter how you look at it, RealWater isn’t that type of impetuous person.

In “Dream Voyage in Rivers and Lakes,” there are two types of official one vs one competitions. One is skill improvement interaction, commonly known as PK. The other type is dueling. It’s okay if you lose at a skill improvement interaction; you don’t lose experience or levels. Only your battle ranking will not be as good. A duel is different, every time you lose a duel, you drop a level. If you are at a low level, then it’s alright. You can get back the level you dropped very easily. If you are at a high level, like Wei Wei and RealWaterIsScentless, losing a level means half a month of your time was wasted.

Not to mention, RealWaterIsScentless is also someone who spends real money to play the game. His equipment and stuff are all top-notch. But to compete with the same top-notch equipment as Great Master NaiHe in a duel…

Basically means you’re seeking death!

Wei Wei has partnered with both of them before, so she understands their strengths very well. She can’t help but say that the disparity between their micromanagements is just too huge. Great Master NaiHe is a heavenly immortal and no longer on a human level, while RealWaterIsScentless at most almost on par with Wei Wei.

Therefore, Wei Wei highly suspects that perhaps RealWaterIsScentless is taking things too hard. Read more

Part 9: Duel

While eating, Si Si is still upset that they didn’t come earlier. Otherwise, they might have been eating their meal at the table next to Xiao Nai. Er Xi knocks her out of it by saying, “Stop dreaming. The people with brother Xiao looked like professionals. They needed to discuss business; and definitely reserved a private room.”

On the side, Xiao Ling tries to hold in what she wants to say, but ends up saying, “I heard that it seems like brother Xiao’s company has run into some problems.”

“No way.”

Wei Wei and Er Xi also have looks of disbelief on them. To the underclassmen of the Computer Science Department, Xiao Nai exists on a spiritual level. How can there be problems?

“I heard from Da Zhong. Da Zhong has a basketball teammate who went to work for Xiao Nai’s company after graduating. The day before yesterday, he was eating lunch with Da Zhong and divulged a few things after drinking a lot. It seems like it’s a problem with investments. It happened in just these few days.”

Si Si says: “I still don’t really believe it. It’s Xiao Nai!”

Wei Wei, who is in the middle of biting into a chicken wing and can’t say anything, nods her head fiercely to express her agreement on what is just said. It’s Xiao Nai! If someone who is really tremendous and really formidable is know as an ox (牛 trans: awesome), then Xiao Nai has to be an rhinoceros (犀牛) ~~~ rhinoceros is a rare ox, a rarely seen ox…Can there also be things he can’t resolve?

Then again, thinking about Xiao Nai’s expression just now, underneath the light; he was still chatting and smiling before he became apathetic in the blink of an eye. Wei Wei isn’t very sure anymore.

Er Xi asks knowingly, “Is it a funding problem?”

“I don’t know.” Xiao Ling emphasizes, “I can’t guarantee the reliability of this, but even if this is false, you guys had better not talk about it to others.”

“Uh-huh, uh-huh, uh-huh.” Wei Wei nods and says, unclearly, with a chicken wing in her mouth, “Promise, won’t say anything. It’ll disappear like today’s chicken wings.” Read more

Part 8: Passing by

Wei Wei quickly puts those three LittleRain clan members to the back of her mind after returning to the area where she was collecting herbal ingredients.  But there’s one particular thing that she’s curious about, so she asks NaiHe while collecting: “How did you know that he was on a continuous quest?”

“I went online once in the afternoon and saw him posting on the world channel asking for seven kinds of feathers.”

NaiHe explains further for Wei Wei to understand.  NaiHe saw EvilBloodOath posting on the world channel asking for seven kinds of feathers in order to pass a stage in a quest.  Therefore, NaiHe knew that EvilBloodOath was on a continuous quest.

Wei Wei is a bit puzzled; how do finding seven kinds of feathers mean that he’s on a continuous quest?

“There are quite a few quests that require collecting feathers.”

NaiHe: “Mm, but the NPCs (Non-player characters) are different for each of the quests.  Collecting feathers is on the 36th stage.  I went to the NPC at the 36th stage, and he showed up soon after.”

Other than worshipping him, Wei Wei has no other thoughts.  He, he, he actually remembers which stage it was!  He actually remembers the NPCs of the different stages!  His memory is unbelievably amazing!  Knowing that she is still only up to the letter “p” in memorizing her English vocabularies, Wei Wei feels like crying; she praises him bitterly: “Your memory is too good.”

She suddenly realizes that the Great Master didn’t capture EvilBloodOath when he saw him in the afternoon; he estimated the time needed and purposely waited until night time on Celestial Mountains Snow Basins……

Part 7: LittleRain Clan

Thinking about this quest’s miserable experience, Wei Wei is a bit sympathetic towards him. But while she might be sympathetic, this person’s speech is, honestly, detestable. Whatever, let me slash him a couple more times first. In any case, this is done by the computer automatically; her hand will not be sore.

Thus, Wei Wei goes to steep tea and drink water. She chats a few lines with NaiHe, but it seems like NaiHe is also doing something else. His replies are not very fast. Wei Wei simply bows her head and starts working on problems.

After doing a page of reading, she lifts her head and sees that there are three more female players by the Celestial Mountains Snow Basins. Their IDs are LittleRainQingQing (LittleRainForeverYoung), LittleRainFeiFei (LittleRainSnowfall), LittleRainMianMian (ContinuousLittleRain.)

Part 6: Wei Wei The Follower

Although they’re now married, this is how Wei Wei thinks of their relationship.

Of course, NaiHe is the Great Master while she is the follower who rushes to the front when monsters appear and runs all kinds of errands……As to why Wei Wei feels this way, it is without a doubt due to that set of divine items.

After all, she can’t just accept free items from somebody without giving back >o<.  Therefore, Wei Wei decides to work hard to pay him back the debt!

 

Not much has changed after getting married; Wei Wei still spends most of her time with YuGong and the others to complete quests to level up.  She and NaiHe only leave the team once in a while to have some time together as a couple.

And spending time together as a couple actually just means completing couple quests.

In “Dream Voyage in Rivers and Lakes,” after a male and female player get married, they will gain three couple abilities.  If they attack together, these three abilities will automatically boost their impact.  Levelling up these three abilities will depend on the couple’s intimacy level.  In order to increase their intimacy level, other than wasting time in the bedroom, the most efficient way is to complete couple quests.

 

Male and female players can actually get married after reaching level 30, so for Wei Wei and ASmileNaiHe who married late, the beginning quests for couples are simply a piece of cake.  The battles are so easy that Great Master NaiHe doesn’t even have to fight; Wei Wei can handle them all by herself.

As a result, the most common image is the heroine in red slashing her saber in the front, while the white robed musician sits under a tree by the riverside playing his guqin poetically.

……

No matter what you say, the imagery is very beautiful and makes others envious.

Part 5: The wedding

The Computer Science Department’s team wins the game in the end and proceeds to the semifinals.  The Computer Science department students cheer in victory, but Xiao Nai never shows up in the end, so the girls feel rather upset.

Wei Wei dashes back to her dorm room right after, logs into the game, and sees that ASmileNaiHe’s (WhyNotJustSmile) avatar is already lit up in her friends list.  Wei Wei sends him a message: “Sorry, I’m late.”

ASmileNaiHe: “No problem. Come to Yue Lao’s temple” (God of marriage and love)

Wei Wei rides a horse to Yue Lao’s temple, but she is shocked by the big crowd of people in front.  Thankfully, there isn’t as many people once she goes inside; only a few are standing and chatting to each other.

Wei Wei walks up to ASmileNaiHe: “How come there are so many people?”  Wei Wei didn’t call any of her friends to come because she didn’t take this wedding seriously, as well as feeling a little embarrassed to tell others that she is getting married again so soon.

ASmileNaiHe says: “You ask them.”

Wei Wei looks at the others, and one of them called, TimelyRain, says: “Heh heh, congrats, congrats.  I told everyone who has nothing to do in our guild to come.  It’ll probably be a grand sight when they all ride their horses and follow behind the marriage sedan in a bit.”

Another one says: “People from our guild also came.”

TimelyRain says: “Everyone is waiting for NaiHe’s red pockets, hahahaha.”

Wei Wei feels extremely embarrassed.  There are probably a couple hundred of people outside.  Hopefully, NaiHe doesn’t go bankrupt after giving out red envelopes to everybody.

Just at this moment, Wei Wei receives a trading request from ASmileNaiHe; a couple of equipment items are on the list.  There isn’t any need to review them in detail; just from their glow, she knows that they are all divine level items.  Wei Wei asks in surprise, “This is?”

ASmileNaiHe says simply: “Betrothal gifts.”

Is…Is this how it feels like when you hook up with a sugar daddy?
