We get to spend some time with Xiao Qiu’s family and see how they react to Li Chuan. He’s such a charmer, how can they resist? 😉

Li Chuan’s Past (沥川往事) : Chapter 16
I find it crazy that she biked for ten hours to get to Kunming. But it definitely fits Xiao Qiu’s personality, not allowing anything to stop her from doing what she’s set her mind on. She also finally gets a chance to take care of Li Chuan in this chapter. A rare occasion!
Li Chuan’s Past (沥川往事) : Chapter 15
This chapter opens the door a little more to Xiao Qiu’s upbringing. It, hopefully, answers some questions about why she seems mature for her age. I think I’m a little torn between understanding her dad’s actions in this chapter and supporting Xiao Qiu for following in his footsteps. Then again, this chapter setups up nicely for some more time with Li Chuan. 🙂
Li Chuan’s Past (沥川往事) : Chapter 14
Xiao Qiu’s feisty spirit is clearly something that Li Chuan falls for, but it certainly makes things a lot more difficult for him. He tries to be Prince Charming, but sometimes he just runs into a wall with Xiao Qiu. I do have to say, Xuan Yin (the author) really likes to choose random references. I did not enjoy translating the songs/poems…etc in this chapter at all…
Li Chuan’s Past (沥川往事) : Chapter 13
Mmmm…if a guy, such a perfect guy, made me clam chowder with a secret recipe. I’d be pretty happy too. 😉 And let’s see how much more awesome Li Chuan gets…
Li Chuan’s Past (沥川往事) : Chapter 12
Made it back in one piece! Managed not to fall off a cliff to bring you another chapter where Xiao Qiu gets a glimpse into Li Chuan’s world.
Li Chuan’s Past (沥川往事) : Chapter 11
When you see this post, Future Me will be trekking through the wilderness in some far off country. I wanted to leave you guys with a chapter to tide your over before I left. So, sorry if there are any huge glaring mistakes as Present Me is rushing around getting ready before my flight. I will be sure to edit them once I get back…Unless my super duper awesome editor gets to this chapter before it’s posted. No picture for now! 🙁
I like how we (and Xiao Qiu) gets a little more of a glimpse into Li Chuan’s world. I must say, it’s a pretty glamorous one.
Li Chuan’s Past (沥川往事) : Chapter 10
No Li Chuan in this chapter, sadly. However, it gives a glimpse into how much Xiao Qiu cares for him. She’s not one to wear her emotions on her sleeves, but the fact that he basically disappears does take a toll on her. It’s clear that she has fallen hard for him. Why he avoids her despite him also liking her that much is still unclear at this point, but will become a much larger hurdle in the future.
Li Chuan’s Past (沥川往事) : Chapter 9
What a doozy chapter 8 was. Things slow down a bit here in chapter 9 as it starts the next part of the novel. I have to say, I feel a little sorry for Xiu Yue. He’s trying so hard, and it’s not like he isn’t accomplished himself. It’s just that no one can compete with Li Chuan. Especially in Xiao Qiu’s eyes.
As a side note, I now have an editor who will be going over the previous chapters. So if there are little discrepancies right now, that’s why. Also, apologies, the translations will also be coming a little slower for these next few weeks as I will be traveling. But fear not, I will be back soon enough to bring you more of Li Chuan!
Li Chuan’s Past (沥川往事) : Chapter 8
If you haven’t had Yunnan Crossing the Bridge Noodles (云南过桥米线), please try them. They are my favorite type of noodles and I have, sadly, yet to find a good authentic place near where I live now. It made me pretty happy to see them appear so many times in this novel…It also resulted in a hangry translator…But, if you are anywhere near a Yunnan restaurant offering them, or Yunnan itself, I urge you to go as soon as possible. You won’t regret it.
Anyway, I digress…
It’s clear that Li Chuan is a very private person who doesn’t let his guard down easily. But here comes a high-spirited Xiao Qiu who isn’t afraid to poke of him, to stand her ground against him, and to love him despite his disability. Resulting in him letting her into his life and his heart.
As promised, things speed up and start getting hotter in this chapter. Honestly, I was completely surprised the first time I read the novel. Did not expect things would move so fast. How many times had Li Chuan and Xiao Qiu interacted with each other before this chapter? Who knew an invitation to go swimming would turn into something else entirely? 😉
