Chapter 113: Persist With Your Original Intentions Part 2

Han Chen is standing with his arms crossed looking far away before retrieving his gaze and looking at them again, “On the other hand, the fancier they are and the more stuff they do, the more traces of evidence they will leave behind.  So tell me, what have you found.” His eyes land on Su Mian.

Su Mian answers, “Okay.  Based on the profile I drafted for A, there are two preliminary conclusions that we can make.  Number one, he must have been at the scene during the incident.  I’ve already asked a couple of officers to gather as many images of the scene as they can.  I will review them one by one and hopefully, I’ll be able to spot him. However, I still need more time.”

Everybody nods.

Su Mian continues, “Number two, his victim was a chosen target.  He made his choice similar to T’s criterion, but there were differences.  It wasn’t a big bad evil guilty person, but it was someone who betrayed his ‘senses.’  Someone who was selfish and greedy. This matches with what I inferred before: he has experienced betrayal in the past.  Therefore, he is unable to accept someone who is like this. If he commits another crime, I believe that he will continue to choose a victim who is like this.” Read more

The atmosphere at the square is bleak.

Su Mian has her hand in her pocket standing beside the “A” mark as she thinks deeply while frowning her eyebrows.

At a distance outside of the yellow tape, there are many bystanders holding up their cell phones and taking photos.  They haven’t been successful in asking them to leave. And behind her, Han Chen and the others are examining the area with a large group of forensic investigators.  They’re picking up the tiny pieces of flesh one by one off of the ground.

Chapter 110: Here For You Part 2

What exactly will happen?

Su Mian holds her breath and takes a look at the clock on the wall: 6:55.

With a wall full of monitors, they still haven’t spotted anything out of the ordinary.  The malls, big buildings, transit stops, online video streaming sites, popular forums……everything is working in order and have no signs of any ferocious crimes happening.

Cold Face finishes his phone call, comes back and sits down, “The local team is on their way.  They’ll be at the oceanarium very soon.”

Han Chen nods.

Everybody looks toward the monitor.  The show on the life channel is still continuing.  The five mermaids dive and surface in the tank, waving their bodies.  The host is talking in a fast pace manner while the seniors in the audience panel watch without moving their eyes and are revealing smiles. Chapter 109: Here For You Part 1

Early morning, the atmosphere in the office is suffocating.  Su Mian fixes her jacket and is staring at more than ten surveillance monitors with everybody else.

This is the day that the seven-member organization has promised to appear.  What they’re watching are the various well-known video streaming sites and areas in the city that are busy.

And these are only a portion of it.  In the bigger room outside, more than ten officers are keeping an eye on the other roads.  At this moment, there are a couple hundred of officers spread out across the city patrolling the areas.

This kind of waiting really puts one’s patience to the test.  Su Mian watches the screen for a while longer before feeling dizzy.  She turns her head and looks at Han Chen beside her. He looks solemn sitting in his seat.  His face is tilted up slightly and he is very focused. Read more

Chapter 108: Life and Death Together

On the 7th day at the 7th hour and 7th minute.

Su Mian is frozen standing below the light holding the piece of white paper.

This is what Han Chen sees as he enters the place.  He walks up to her back, holds her shoulders and turns her around.  His black jacket collar is standing and his body seems to carry the coolness of the night.  But his eyes are darkest ever as he assesses her from head to toe. Only after confirming that she’s fine that he presses her into his embrace.

“I’m fine,” Su Mian says softly.  She hugs him back as if it’s the only way that can comfort her heart.  She holds the letter in front of Han Chen. Han Chen takes a look at it and then picks up the envelope on the coffee table.  His expression is indifferent. Read more

Chapter 107: Hello, Big Sister

Su Mian lies down on the bed; she’s already very sleepy.  But Han Chen is still in the shower, so she fights to keep her eyelids open to wait for him.

After a while, the bathroom door opens.  Han Chen is in his pajamas and holding a shaving knife in his hand.  The texture of his pajamas is nice and soft with faint gray stripes on it, adding a hint of elegance and laziness to his temperament. He has one hand on the counter while facing the mirror about to begin shaving a few stubbles that have come out on his chin.

Su Mian is intrigued immediately.  She jumps out of bed and stands beside him, “Let me help you.”

Han Chen, who has just finished taking a shower, is so beautiful that it makes one’s heart pound.  He takes a look at her with his moist looking eyes, “You know how to?”

“I can learn it,” Su Mian answers swiftly as she looks at him with hopeful eyes. Read more

Chapter 106: A Jealous Person

At the river shore, rocks and weeds are everywhere.  The investigators spread out on a search but they haven’t found where he has landed yet.

It’s likely that he fell into the river.

Han Chen is in charge at the scene; he and a few investigators are immersed in their discussion about the situation while they walk around.  Su Mian takes a look around by herself. She stops beside the river and spots Xu Si Bai standing in the water by himself; his shoes and the end of his pants are wet while he is in a daze.

Just as she is about to walk over, there’s a tingling feeling in her heart; she looks around to confirm that Han Chen is not nearby before striding toward Xu Si Bai.  She pats his shoulder, “What are you thinking about?” Read more

Chapter 105

The night is abnormally quiet.  Cold wind is blowing through the opened door.  Chatterbox stares at the two men on the floor and is anxious to death.  He quickly dials 120 and then slaps Zhou Xiao Zhuan’s face hard, “Wake up!  Wake up!”

Xiao Zhuan actually wakes up and looks at him in a haze.  He then jumps up from the ground, “What happened? What happened?  Did we catch him?” He moves his neck and frowns, “It hurts so much!”

Seeing that he’s fine, Chatterbox lets out a breath of relief, “He ran off!  Leader and Xiao Bai are chasing after him! He actually stabbed Cold Face with a knife!”

They both look at Cold Face on the floor.  Luckily, the knife is not stabbed into a vital area and he’s not bleeding too much.  Xiao Zhuan runs back to his desk to grab the first aid kit immediately. Chatterbox pats Cold Face’s face lightly, “Cold Face!  Cold Face! Are you able to wake up? Xu Nan Bai has run away!” Read more

Chapter 104: The Third Person

3 am in the morning.

Zhou Xiao Zhuan is sitting in front of the computer yawning.

The office is big and empty.  Only the light directly above his head is turned on while everywhere else is dark, making the place seem rather spooky.  He reaches up his hand to tug his eyelids open and then gets up to pour himself a cup of coffee. He goes back to the computer with his eyes wide open and continues reading the information about the case, as well as to guard that “precious” fingerprint in the evidence bin.

He doesn’t know how much time has passed.

A rustling noise.

Outside of the door at a distance, there seems to be some noise, yet it seems quiet at the same time.

Xiao Zhuan turns to look out of suspicion but all he sees is the dark window with tree branches swaying in the wind.  He doesn’t think too much of it. He pulls up his jacket and resumes his full concentration to the monitor while humming a melody. Read more

Chapter 103: The Big Show Begins

This is truly a surprising yet perplexing scene!

It’s the middle of the night and Chatterbox is holding a flashlight with his mouth appearing in the office with the extremely precious half fingerprint in his hand.  Han Chen and Su Mian are staring at him with gloomy faces but their eyes carry a sense of calmness like everything has been settled.

Under everybody’s gaze, Chatterbox retrieves the flashlight from his mouth and looks at them feeling stunned, “What are you guys doing here?”

Xiao Zhuan speaks up as well, “Yeah Leader, what exactly is going on?  Chatterbox, what are you doing coming here in the middle of the night to get the fingerprint?” Read more
