A Slight Smile is Very Charming (微微一笑很倾城) : Part 33

Part 33: The path only wide enough for one

Actually, in retrospect, Wei Wei also feels that her own line was very terrifying. But to pick a fight at the door, being imposing was very important. Well, afterwards, it was Wei Wei, using the excuse of being busy, asking Cao Guang to substitute for her and teach a session of basic English to the little boy.

With that, she didn’t have to explain anything else; everything became completely clear.

Since the truth of these kinds of things can easily become distorted, Wei Wei didn’t even tell those in her dorm room about it. The affair had happened so long ago that Wei Wei has pretty much almost forgotten all about it. She simply tells her dorm mates. Xiao Ling exclaims in admiration, “It’s so like a drama. Did Cao Guang have feelings towards you? Why didn’t you guys develop a relationship?”

“Intuition, “ Wei Wei says in contemplation, “Eh?! Perhaps I knew that there would be someone even better later on?”

Everyone is shocked.

Si Si asks, “Then why does the talented Liang girl also speak up for you?”

Wei Wei isn’t too certain about it either, “This person, does she have a very pointy chin, is a bit shorter than me, and has curly waist-length hair?”

Wei Wei describes her based on the remnants of her impression of her.

Si Si nods, “That’s right, that’s her.”

Wei Wei makes an “oh” sound and then her face has an awkward expression on it.

Er Xi shakes her, “Stop keeping us in suspense. Hurry and speak, how do you know her?”

Wei Wei says, “I…think I helped her bargain for a price.”

Er Xi and the others all have on a choked up expression. Read more

Part 32: Rumors

The school forums have been extremely lively for quite a while, because of the Computer Science department’s top-notch awesome person dating the department beauty situation. But after a few days, it has died down a bit since there hasn’t been any more new gossip. But a new topic on Saturday night attracts the entire school’s students’ attention again.

The topic name is — Hot topic! The school’s well-known talented girl challenges the rumored beauty!

Exciting! Today, I was inadvertently directed to the blog of a certain talented girl of our school and found a fresh new article! I was actually just casually reading it, but who knew that I would get excited over it. The more I read, the more excited I became, so I brought it over to share with everyone.

Blog URL: www.xxxxx.blog.XXX.com.cn

Just kidding. The full text has been copied here. Ha.

Then, the person who made the topic has copied the entire article and pasted it — the title being, “Who told you not to be a 34C”. The article is extremely long. The beginning starts with some insignificant things, and then it talks about the author of the blog drinking coffee together with her friends, yesterday afternoon. She mentions the style of the cafe casually, about how it is being renovated and stuff, before she gets to the part that the topic started had indicated.

Part 29: The most terrific party in history

In 0.1 seconds, Wei Wei rushes offline.

During the first second she’s off, Wei Wei’s thoughts are: Good thing I ran quickly.

After a second, Wei Wei starts thinking back over it: Why the heck did I go offline. It was just a joke. Wouldn’t running off like this make it seem like I have a guilty conscience? This won’t do! One must behave with calmness. If one isn’t actually calm, then one must appear matchlessly calm.

Therefore, Wei Wei crawls on again. As soon as she goes on, she sees her husband, with his white robes lightly flowing in the wind, standing together with MoZhaHim. Scrambling to speak before they do, Wei Wei sends an angry emoticon.

“I got disconnected (connection dropped)!”

Part 28: Passing by

The next time Wei Wei logs into “Dream Voyage in Rivers and Lakes” is already four days later, on a Friday.

Originally, Wei Wei would never touch a game during exam time so as to avoid distractions…now there’s already someone distracting her.

The last time she went online was for the video contract.

In the past few days, with great efficiency, Wei Wei has signed a contract with Feng Teng Games. On Wednesday, Wei Wei sent the contract to Feng Teng’s headquarters in Shanghai. On Thursday, they said that they had already received it. And then, they agreed to give the remuneration stated on the contract to Wei Wei on Friday at 8pm.

The remuneration in the contract is four in-game pets.

In the beginning, the remuneration brought up by Feng Teng was 6,000 in cash. But after considering it for a while, Wei Wei brought up the thought of using in-game pets as substitution for cash as remuneration. Feng Teng is naturally glad at this suggestion; after all, 6,000 would be in real cash while in-game pets are merely a few lines of data to them. Then, both sides spent at least N hours going back and forth about the level and stats of the pets. Finally, Wei Wei’s conditions were met and Feng Teng agreed to give Wei Wei four normal spirit pets with market values of around 20,000 and two types of materials that have extremely low drop rates (when bosses/monsters are killed).

Of course, all these things are not just for Wei Wei herself; YuGong, MonkeyWine and the others all have a share. Even though, the Great Master meant for her to take all of the rewards for herself, Wei Wei still feels that sharing a good thing with everyone else is an even happier thing.

8pm was the agreed upon time. At just 7:30, Wei Wei logs on. After all, after so many days of not playing the game, she still misses it a bit.

At dinner, Great Master said that he was busy at night, and is most likely not online. But when she gets online, Wei Wei still first glances at his avatar — sure enough, it is dim. Read more

Part 25: Blitzkrieg War

Only after quite a while do whispers start sounding in the vicinity. Wei Wei vaguely hears her and Xiao Nai’s name mentioned repeatedly. Gradually, flickering glances also head towards them.

After some more time, the noise becomes louder; becoming a buzz. The glances at them increase and become more and more brazen…

Under everyone’s unsettlement, Wei Wei suddenly becomes calm.

She starts learning from the Great Master, calmly turning to watch the game. As she looks, she’s so shocked that she can’t help but make an astonished sound.

The score on the court has actually become even!

Xiao Nai seems to know what she is surprised about and she hears him say flatly, “Don’t worry, once they stop looking into the stands, their score will pull away again.”

Because the gymnasium is noisy, he has to slightly lean towards her to speak, as if he’s telling her a secret.  Their breathing is very close to each other and Wei Wei only needs to slightly lift her eyes to be able to clearly see his thick and long eyelashes…

It turns out, getting close is actually such a hair-raising thing.

Wei Wei lowers her eyes and looks at her hair that has fallen upon his wrist and makes an “Mmm” sound. Actually, she didn’t even take note of what he was saying. She can only vaguely feel that their surroundings had become quiet again…

Only after the end of the third quarter does Er Xi wake up from her daze to call out, “How come our team is only leading by two points!

When Wei Wei hears her voice, she then remembers that she hasn’t introduced Xiao Nai to her roommates yet. But Xiao Nai has been continuously watching the game before and it wasn’t convenient to introduce them. Right now, he is still paying attention to the situation on the court. Wei Wei wants to call out to him, but is stomped by what the address him as.

Calling him senior male classmate is really weird…

Calling him NaiHe is even weirder; they’re not in the online game…

Calling him Xiao Nai…eh…seems a bit embarrassing…how come the Great Master can call her Wei Wei so naturally >o< Read more

Part 24: Basketball farewell game

For Wei Wei to say such a thing is merely just her being unable to suppress the mischievousness with her rising mood. But she didn’t expect that they would believe her. Who knew that Er Xi will say something like this — severely stupefying her for a bit.

“Publicly known? What do you mean?”

Er Xi says, “There was some popular gossip thread on the school’s forums that matched up the well-known singles in the school. You and Xiao Nai are publicly known to be the most incompatible.”

Wei Wei is a bit blown back by it and angrily says, “There’s even this kind of thread. The people in our school are really dull.”

No one replies to what she says and thus, this topic stops. After quite awhile, as Er Xi and Xiao Ling are already chatting about another topic, Wei Wei pulls the conversation towards her again, “How are we incompatible?”

Er Xi thinks that Wei Wei is a bit strange today. Why is she so attached to this question? But she doesn’t think more about it and says, straightforwardly, “Someone on the forum said something like this, something looks, something profession. Ah, let me think about how they said it — it was quite good.”

Recalling it, she says, “Seems like it went like this, one is simple and elegant like an ink painting, the other is rich in color like an oil painting. One is an immortal from the heavens, the other is an expensive and precious flower on earth…Hey, what is with that expression of yours!”

Er Xi, who had been getting excited as she spoke, becomes angry.

Expressionlessly, Wei Wei says, “I’m getting goosebumps. Also, I’m not oily at all.” Read more

Part 22: It’s him

The exam has already ended and the number of people by the school gates gradually increases. Pretty much everyone who walks past these two remarkably good-looking man and woman will subconsciously slow down and take a few looks. However, Wei Wei doesn’t notice any of these glances, because the second Xiao Nai spoke, she had already crossed into outer space.

I was waiting for you…

I was waiting for you…

I was waiting for you…

……

This voice…

This voice…

This voice…

Wei Wei looks at the person in front her, confused. In his eyes is the reflection of the sunset making it all seem a bit surreal and gentle. His tranquil posture and patience…

Wei Wei moves her lips, but no sound comes out. She takes a deep breath, controls the chaos inside of her, and in complete disbelief, she says, “…NaiHe?”

The person in front of her gazes at her and indisputably answers, “It’s me.”

The Destruction of a Triad Boss Trilogy (一个黑道大哥的毁灭三部曲) – Wu Xiu Long Xiang (无袖拢香) : Part 4

4. The third step towards destruction

Fallen into the pit of loveliness, Mei Mei became more and more beautiful. I thought I was done for. I was going to become a beast. There were puppy loves at school, and there were girls who secretly gave me love letters. But I could only think of Mei Mei. By my third year of junior middle school, Mei Mei also got into my middle school. The male classmates of mine all pounced like wolves when they saw Mei Mei and vied to win my favor for me to introduce them. How could I give Mei Mei to them? I found all sorts of reasons to keep them off, push them away, drive them away…in order to protect Mei Mei, I wracked my brains until they were empty.

I was suffering; I was confused; I was depressed. Why did she have to be my younger sister?

I can’t stand it anymore! I couldn’t stand the way Mei Mei looked at me with her bright eyes. I needed to smash her idol and expose my true colors. I want her to keep far from me.

One day, there was an opportunity at the dinner table. Dad and Mom asked me about my aspiration for the middle school exam (for high school). I fiercely said, “I’m not going to go to school anymore. I’m going to join the triads. I want to be a triad boss.” Read more
